Frequently Asked Questions About PulseCode® Locks
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the PulseCode® Model No. 7236 lock battery typically last? |
The lock battery is designed to last 36 months. The lock's sophisticated processor allows the lock to turn itself off 10 seconds after its last key command or synchronization. This feature ensures long battery life and prevents premature battery failure. At 30% remaining battery capacity a red light located on top of the lock next to the release button will illuminate. Typically this will happen approximately one year in advance of battery failure. |
What happens if the PulseCode® Model No. 7236 lock battery dies? |
The PulseCode® lock is designed to keep a remaining charge in the locks power management system that is sufficient to open the lock. This permits the user to open the door one last time to replace the battery. When the lock is opened this one last time, the lock will remain unlocked until a new battery is installed. |
When I change the PulseCode® lock battery do I have to replace the all the codes? |
No, the lock has a static memory to hold your programming codes when servicing the battery. |
How can I tell if the key's battery is low? |
You will receive a low battery indicator light prior to discharge of your battery. This light will be amber in color and will flash repeatedly after the key is transmitting its codes. The key has a replaceable, CR2 lithium battery. It should be replaced every 4,500 times of use. Simply remove the two screws on the back of the key to service the battery compartment. |
Why does the mounted keypad (#7813) have access for two batteries but only comes with one? |
For general use, the mounted keypad is designed to operate with one battery. However, if the keypad is in a high traffic area, two batteries will increase service life between battery changes. |
Where is the data port for the audit lock (#7835)? |
The data port is located under the protective plastic cover that surrounds the inside manual release button. Simply remove the screw cover & screw to access the data port. |
How do I synchronize my lock with my computer? |
Simply connect the Model No. 7222 USB port to your computer and connect the specially designed cable tip to the small dark circle next to the release button on top of your PulseCode® Model No. 7236 lock. It is an infrared port designed to work in all environments. Please refer to your synchronization instructions for fast programming. |
How often should I lubricate the lock? |
Your PulseCode® lock is designed to work in all environments without any lubricants; however, if your lock is subjected to extreme environments with salt water or sand a quality Teflon based lubricant can be applied to the cam roller that works in conjunction with your strike. |
How do I use the key to open the lock? |
Simply enter your 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 digit opening code and press the "enter" key. Press the transmitter tip of the key directly to the surface that the lock is mounted on and the key will transmit the code to the lock to open. For more information, please refer to the instructions provided with your key or go to www.pulsecodelock.com and refer to the 7210 Operating instructions in the Technical Support section. |
